It has been so long since I tried it without pulse that I can't remember for sure. But I want to record both speaker and mic sounds in recordmydesktop, but not not put the mic sounds out the speaker. I tried for months to get it to work, and could not do it. But maybe things have changed with alsa now. If I decide to try it again I will start a new thread on it, and maybe we can figure it out.
