How do I fix that?

For some reason all the tooltips are white on white which of course makes them hard to read.

there's a few different themes that have the problem. could it be a GTK2 vs GTK3 problem?gapan wrote:What theme are you using? It's probably an issue with it.

If you're trying to use a GTK3 theme in GTK2, that could be a problem, yes.
Re: Tooltips White on White 13.37 XFCE
actually I don't have a problem with GTK3 themes. It's some normal GTK2 themes. I noticed there is a gtk-3.0 folder in my home folder which I don't think I put there. it has a file called settings.inigapan wrote:If you're trying to use a GTK3 theme in GTK2, that could be a problem, yes.
two that seem to be a problem are Atolm & Orta.

I suppose that if you could link to one such theme, I could take a look.

I know they require the murrine and equinox engines which I thought I installed. I better look again.
edit: I have both engines installed. They did display fine except for the tooltips.

ugh. I think I know what was wrong. Orta seems fine now. I modified the gtkrc file for the Atolm theme. I thought I just changed the background to a darker gray to match the foreground but apparently that had an effect on the tooltips. sorry for the bother. I'll mark this as solved.
