VMWare Tools installation

Post by bvamunds »

Hello, I'm new to Salix and I'm trialing the 13.37 LXDE version under vmware to assure I can do everything I need to before leaving my WinXP SP3 Media Center 2002 software behind. However, I'm having trouble with installing vmware-tools. There is a spot where it asks me: "What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel?" When I go to lib/modules/2.6.37.6-smp/ I see a symlink to /usr/src/linux-2.6.37.6, but there is no such directory. Where are the kernel header files hiding? Thanks.

I believe that you have to install the kernel-source package. See http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/H ... nel_source

Thanks for the reply that was the problem. Once the kernel source was installed everything ran, except that I still had to kill the mkinitrd for X Conf.
