Really odd problem with Firefox 8 and Picasa site.

I use Picasa to store images and have run into a problem. Normally I could click on the "add pictures from your computer" tab and it would open the open file dialog box so I could browse and pick which one I want. For some reason now it opened the FF prevented this site from opening a popup window. I tried adding it to the exceptions list but that just changed the message to FF prevented 3 popups. I can get it to work by disabling block popups altogether but that's not very convenient. I have a lot of VB guests and my Mac and none of them do this. Have any idea what the problem might be?

I also told FF don't warn me about popups on the Picasa site and now I cn't change it back.

edit: running Salix 13.37 XFCE

re-edit: apparently Salix is not the only distro having the issue. now one of my debian based guests is doing the same thing with FF9
