mplayer can play videos graphically without X. No need to use ascii output.

So I now see! However, I'll have to fiddle with the switches a bit. -fs (for fullscreen under X) doesn't seem to work; and I can't get ASCII output to do anything

Need to add

-zoom -xy [some number]

to increase size - in my case around 1150, which may be my vertical screen resolution (though I thought it was a bit less actually). Under X the image is automatically expanded by just -fs leaving a few pixels strip at top and bottom.

Very cool. Reminds me of scrotwm I also like the vi /vim command key layout support. I see that there is a build in Sourcery.

I hear you Jumanji is based on uzbl and is in the repository.

Jumanji does more tricks with the handy configuration scripts produced by JRD, which you should find links to if you search the forum. But maybe you already have. I used it for a while and liked it, but ended up getting used to Vimprobable during beta testing for the Salix Ratpoison edition. With Vimprobable, I'm still irritated by the need to use Ctrl-z to "pass through" when typing text forms (like this message). You forget, and the first 'd' closes the window.
