Here's an interview with JRD and Akuna about Salix Live CDs given to Jonathan Nadeau from FrostbiteSystems (http://frostbitemedia.org/)

A USB key with free software (framakey), firstly oriented to be used under Windows, now have a Salix version of it (in French) :

You can maybe use a translator to read it in english, but as there are some mistakes in French, the translator could be not very accurate.

Framasoft used to be one of my best (French) resource a few years ago when I was in the process of switching to free software. It is a great project! It is wonderful that they use Salix for one of their framakey.

Wow, that looks like a great bundle. Downloading Framakey now - number one hundred and something. The shared email between Windows and Salix is an excellent idea to ease the transition for hesitant new users. If this was available in English I'd get it for my mother (in her 70s, unreasonable attachment to Outlook).

EDIT

Actually I found it has quite a few glitches, at both the Linux and Windows ends. It's possible some data corruption occurred between France and my USB, but it feels more like a lack of polish - wireless dead for instance, but it works with the same Salix and the same machine. In a tool aimed at the beginning user, polish is important. For example, why remove the option to choose the keyboard? Still, it's a great idea.

Has anyone else given it a whirl?

The first issue of LinuxInside, a new print magazine for Linux in Greece has been published. The magazine has been created by ex-authors from the now dropped Greek edition of LinuxFormat. And it has a review of Salix! Final score: 5/5! :D

Here's the link to the magazine web page, although the magazine content is not available online, only in the print edition:
