Hello everyone... It's been a long time since I posted anything on this forum... Unfortunately I'm having trouble with kde effects! None of the effects works! First (in sys settings) it was telling me that XDamage and XCompositing are missing... so I googled it up! I found this thread:
http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic. ... age#p18086
I did what djemos said! And now it doesn't show anything is missing but the effects still don't work! Any suggestions? BTW I'm using KDE 4.7.1 and Salix 64bit. It's intels GMA 4500 M graphics chip! Thank you...

Re: Unable to turn on KDE effects (XDamage, XCompositing)
How did you upgrade to kde-4.7.1 ?
KDE packages have splitted in kde 4.7.x series.
Look here for packages for kde-4.7.1 http://www.slackel.gr/repo/x86_64/13.37 ... kde-4.7.1/
remove the following packages if they exist
polkit-kde-1, kdebase-runtime, kdebase-workspace, kdebindings, kdeedu
Are you sure that kde-workspace package is installed ? Previous package kdebase-workspace has to be removed.
Are you sure that there is no disable-composite.conf file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d ?
I have kde-4.7.4 and salix64 updated to slackware current and effects run without problem.

Re: Unable to turn on KDE effects (XDamage, XCompositing)
Upgrade mesa-7.9.2-x86_64-1.txz to mesa-7.10.2-x86_64-1.txz (http://www.slackel.gr/repo/x86_64/13.37 ... 6_64-1.txz)
The Mesa libraries are used by X to provide both software and hardware accelerated graphics.
Log out and log in kde. And enable in sys settings effects.
