Hi,
I'm currently downloading the KDE edition of 13.37 for my eee PC. I'm using Fuduntu and it runs great, but I like the philosophy behind Salix and wanted to see if it provided a speed boost over Fuduntu.
I'm not sure which desktop environment to install and was wondering if you could download them all as packages, like with lubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, etc. in Ubuntu. Also, if I do this, will it slow down performance?
Thanks.
Slowdown from Multiple DEs?
Re: Slowdown from Multiple DEs?
Yes, you can download each one separately, but what you won't get all the salix customization that way and of course you won't get the application selection which is tailored specifically for each edition. There is no reason anything will slow down.
Re: Slowdown from Multiple DEs?
Ah, okay. Thanks.
In that case, I made a lucky choice because the KDE edition has the apps I need.
Thanks again.
Edit: Downloaded the Ratpoison one, too, since it seems like a powerful tool for writing.
