Youtube flashplayer not working after upgrade.

Post by roderick »

I have installed Salix os lxde on a old dell optiplex pentium III, 384mb ram, nvidia vanta 16mb.
This seems a really good installed operating system for this computer, but after letting it do an upgrade flashplayer on youtube did not work. Before upgrade it would play even fullscreen although a little jerky as to be expected.
I suppose I could re-install and not upgrade but I'm hoping one of you more experienced guys may have the answer.

What browser and which browser version is that? What flash version? What graphics chipset? Which graphics driver is in use?

For graphics:

Code: Select all

lspci -vnn

Thanks for the replies. I had installed Firefox 4 from gslapt, not too sure what chipset on the nvidia vanta I might have to pull it out to see. Meanwhile I've been off on a tangent trying to install freebsd 9 with lxde but that has just about fried my noodle. It didn't work for me anyway. I like Salix and soon will install again. I read some where that flashplayer is no longer supported on the latest version of Firefox. I have always used Firefox for my web browser just because it is familiar to me. I guess Midori should be better hopefully especially on an old computer. But I like to download tutorials from Youtube with flashgot is there a similar way with Midori?

I'm sorry, but you're not making much sense. If you want help, you really need to get your problem details straight. You're talking about a package upgrade, you're not providing any details of what was actually upgraded, you mention the LXDE edition and you're not mentioning which browser you're using and you're letting us think that it was the default LXDE browser, but then it wasn't. Then you're talking about installing firefox 4, which by now is a year old and I don't see why you should install that instead of firefox 13, which is the latest version available in the repositories. And then you're talking about BSD and some false "facts" like flash not being compatible to firefox. You were asked some very specific questions in order to solve your problem which you refused to answer. And how are we supposed to help you if you have already removed salix from your PC? And then you jump to a completely different question, to which the answer is "yes" by the way, but if you want help with that, you'd better start a new thread about it and not hijack you own thread with an unrelated subject.
