Compaq Armada M700 tv-out
Re: Compaq Armada M700 tv-out
Unless someone has exactly the same laptop as you, nobody can tell you if it will work or not for sure. But since you want to make it work, you should try it. It might work, or not.
Re: Compaq Armada M700 tv-out
I erased Salix and put Win98 just to test if tv-out is fully functional for my laptop.
And it is... Just after installing the GPU drivers and without any configuration.
The tv-out displays a clone of my (1024x768) desktop to TV at the same time...
The system is pretty fast, and with mpc and xnview i could have all i want.
But... i really like linux...
The sad part is that salixlive lxde with only base software will take about 45 minutes to install.
I may try SuSE first (7.1 pro, 9.1 and 10.1 if necessary).
Yes, i have bought Win98 (48.000 Drachmas) and SuSE 7.1 pro (75 Euro) back when they were Fresh meat.
I also have Mandrake 7.2 (basic or something like that (3cd set 35 Euro) and i may give it a try too (if SuSE fail).
I' ll post back if i have a solution with Salix.
For now this thread can stay unsolved exactly as it is in all the other forums i have post the same "problem".

Never measured live install but the normal installer cd is a lot faster especially when grabbing the packages from HD. In any case it hardly takes about 10min with dialogs and stuff for the installer cd.
Base doesn't cut much down anyway.

Re: Compaq Armada M700 tv-out
I have a GeForce 6500 with tv out. I had to install nvidia's proprietary driver for the tv display to clone my lcd monitor. The Nouveau driver wouldn't do an exact clone, no matter what I did with xrandr.
I'm not sure if there is a proprietary driver for your ATI Mobility Pro, but if there is, it might work for you.
