Hi to all,
I am new to Salix OS and was trying to install the Xfce edition on a extra PC I had. I have the direct installation CD (not the Live CD version) and when I click the installation icon on the desktop to install it to my hard drive, it asks for a password for root that I don't even have. When I try to create a password off the top of my head it simply won't accept it and keeps waiting for some unkown password. What should I put in for the password to continue?
Thank you
Can't get past password for new installation

You must have the LiveCD version, because that is the only version that features an installer icon on the desktop. If so, the administrative password is live.
See => http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/Salix_Live_logins

What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.
Re: Can't get past password for new installation
Yes that was the password it wanted. I guess I do have the Live version CD even though it doesn't say "Live Version Installer" like it does in the manual's illustration. Now it wants yet another password that I don't have for the Gparted tool just so I can partition the hard drive.
Re: Can't get past password for new installation
I guess that people interested in downloading the ISO images don't really read the rest of the page (they just click on the download link).
