I just registered a few days ago, have decided to stop hovering and move to Salix as my home system. So a bit of background, since I will be posting a few questions.
Modest experience in programming (way back, and now again), ditto with Linux (several years). Want to make a change though, and have looked around constantly of course, far too much, and for some reason Salix remained a constant, and kept kept coming back to it as a possible new system. Xfce as "flagship" might be the best desktop for me, but settled on LXDE anyway, even though there is some ironing out to be done in the initial install. Because it is smallish and I like that, used it before and feel comfortable with it, or just like the challenge.
And there are some things there which are close to being show-stoppers for those taking a quick look. So already found answers here in the forums for some questions, tracked down others myself. And now have just one or two questions left, so I'll being posting on those. First I have to get familiar with posting period.
The ease and above all the speed of a Salix install by the way is not just good, its outstanding.
And not even just the text install (ah, the bliss), but the live installs as well. Respect!
