[solved] installed epdfview and gimp do not start

Post by barchi »

i have installed all dependencies (poppler...) and packages, but still i can not read pdf files nor does epdf start when clicked in xfce menu. The same happens with gimp.

Any ideas?

Try starting them from a terminal command line and post the output here. As an example here's what gimp looks like when I start it from a command line:

Code: Select all

rich[~]$ gimp

(gimp:3419): GLib-WARNING **: goption.c:2132: ignoring no-arg, optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of type 0

Code: Select all

gimp: error while loading shared libraries: libgegl-0.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
mmh... a lib is missing?

Code: Select all

bash: epdf: Kommando nicht gefunden.

There has been a problem with the slackware dependencies repository, which has been fixed by now. If you update the package cache and then reinstall gimp, it should work.

And there is no epdf command. Do you mean epdfview instead?

yes, gimp is starting now, thanks.

btw:
is there something wrong with the firefox 15.1 to 16.1 update???
Firefox from official repo is already version 16.1, so why updating it again?

I think there was an update from 16.0 to 16.1 because a problem was discovered with release inflation at Mozilla. Slackware might overtake them soon.

I saw this on one of my updates yesterday also. It said it was updating from 15.1 to 16.1. At the time I thought it was strange since I had thought that it was already at 16.0. Passed it off as just another firefox update :?
