Hi, salixers!
Following this forum for a while, the time of install and use Salix has come. After the greeting I ask for help with the first -minor- issue.
I was searching for a simple backup tool. Two programs appear to fit: backintime and luckybackup. The first is in Gslapt: I installed it, but no luck: it doesn't run.
The second one is in Sourcery. Again fiasco: when compiling it crashes. Because I think luckybackup is, for my needs, better, I tried to compile from source directly. But again a problem: It needs qt4 and this is not in the salix repos, which has surprised me a lot.
Then I've thought to ask for advice in this forum. How can I get a simple backup tool?
Thanks for your attention.

Searching for a simple backup program
Re: Searching for a simple backup program
Not much of a report here, so not much help can be given.Van_Vinkle wrote:I was searching for a simple backup tool. Two programs appear to fit: backintime and luckybackup. The first is in Gslapt: I installed it, but no luck: it doesn't run.
Crashes? What crashes? When? How?Van_Vinkle wrote:The second one is in Sourcery. Again fiasco: when compiling it crashes.
The package is named qt.Van_Vinkle wrote:Because I think luckybackup is, for my needs, better, I tried to compile from source directly. But again a problem: It needs qt4 and this is not in the salix repos, which has surprised me a lot.
In any case, rsync is all that's needed in my opinion for backups. Its GUI, grsync works well too.

Re: Searching for a simple backup program
The nub of the matter was qt. I've installed it (which I thought it was not the same as qt4) and the compilation through sourcery has been fine. Now luckybackup is in my system.
Thanks for your prompt answer.
