My Wireless is not working!

Post by dalichey »

I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook 6163ef with a Ralink RT5390 Wifi Adapter. My Ethernet adapter that is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family works fine with wicd. I can't switch on my wireless. Note that wireless is activated in the startup services. Thanks in advance for help!

I prefer NetworkManager instead Wicd.... maybe it work this way! (I use this with the mobile broadband network device)

1. Install from GSlapt: Network-manager, Network-manager-applet. If you want install also ModemManager and Usb_modeswitch. for mobile broadband network
2. Remove Wicd.
3. Main Menu -> System -> System services (gtkservicesetup) -> set a tick on "networkmanager" and remove on "wicd" -> button "OK".
4. Main Menu -> Definitions -> Session and Startup -> automatic Applications -> remove the tick in Wicd network manager tray -> button "close"
5. Reboot the computer.

A search in the forum will answer your question.
if you have SalixOS 14.0 and kernel 3.2.29 then the rt5390 is supported from rt2800pci. Be sure that kernel-firmware-20120804git-noarch-1 package is innstalled.
So modprobe rt2800pci and connect with wicd.

If you have SalixOS 13.37 then http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic. ... 090#p18913
