I use Chakra at the moment, but i try a lot of distribution such as opensuse and Arch
I have a question: there is a "better" DE for Salix or it is indifferent? i prefere KDE but i see so xfce's version of salix is very popular.

For Salix 13.37, you can try most of them out through the Live CD. These haven't been released yet for Salix 14.0, but Slackel (basically Salix with a recent kernel and KDE) has a Live version. I don't have the URL at my fingertips but I think it is http://www.slackel.[some common termination]. Since Salix 14.0 currently has a recent kernel and will have a fairly recent KDE when that edition is released, the experience is probably similar, though the wallpaper isn't.

Having said that, if you have a free partition, the installation process should be quick and painless. Again, as yet, Salix 14.0 only exists with Xfce (though there are packages available for some other WMs).

The one *I* like best is Salix Ratpoison

Slackel is for all. It is not only for greek users.
Boot on english and install slackel. Then reboot, install with slapt-get or gslapt the kde lang file of your language (kde-l10n-xx replace xx with it for italian lang)
and from system settings set the kde enviroment for your language.
Log out and log in again in kde to have all menus and messages in your language.
