OK, the problem is with the stick. gmountman works fine till I insert it, then behaves as before. I was able to mount the stick with #mount. Here is the requested output after doing so:

This is in Salix i486 probably RC2, updated. As far as I know the stick gives no problems in 64 bits. It also now works as a Live CD.

Nothing seems out of place here. What icon theme are you using? I'm wondering if that matters in some weird way. Try with the default icon theme. And it shouldn't matter if it's in 32bits or 64bits, so it's even weirder.

Maybe the stick is damaged in some way - it is quite old. I don't know how to change the icon theme so it must be whatever came with the RC. I'll post back if I notice anything in the Other Arch. The only difference I know of is this one (i486 - actually, i686 now, isn't it?) has your custom udisks2 package.
Incidentally (or maybe not incidentally at all), that is still leaving behind a lot of ghosts in /media; I was going to post on this after spending a little more time with the vanilla package over in x86_64 land to make sure nothing similar is happeneing there:
Code: Select all
root[cashew]# ls /media
