2 issues after changing hardware [solved]

Post by jpg153 »

Hi,

I was running Salix 13.37 (64bit) on my PC when the PC suddenly stopped working.
I thought it was the power supply which failed, however the dealer/repair service reported the mainboard was defective.
They said when trying to get it running, there was a small flame and smoke...
So they changed the maniboard which is a different brand. It was an ASUS and now its Asrock.
Both have/had an Itnel chipset, but there are obviously other differences.
So finally, Salix is starting and all seems ok except 2 things:
1. the desktop backlground/wallpaper is lost. It showing a solid color where I had a picture/photo before.
2. more severe, eth0 so LAN is not working. LEDs are blinking but I cannot get a connection to my router.

How can I check whats' wrong and how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
no1: my failure. Moved the image before the machine crashed and did not notice.
no2: with "ifconfig -a" I found out that eth1 was active and so I changed WICD for wired network.
Done!
Regards Gruß

Good to hear you got things worked out.

What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.
