GPU: AMD 6970

MEM: 16GB Gskill (tested)
OS: salix 13.37 live cd kde
Media Type: 4GB flash drive
When I try to boot the live cd it loads quite a bit fast then leaves me at a black screen with a cursor. if i boot into runlevel 3 text. i get to a login page. i have tried "pclinuxos" and it would hang at "loading gfx code..." couldnt get it fixed. I tried "slackware" and it failed to load lilo, i want grub and most of them seem to want to stay with lilo. given that slackware was not in a gfx mode and was working but all other attempts to load one has me thinking its a gfx error. i tried nomodeset and a few premade options in the boot loader to no avail. my ultimate goal is to have this running with 2 1TB drives in RAID 0. But anything to get to a live cd would be a big help. I will probably go to sleep soon and check in the morning.
Thank you

gfx install problem
Re: gfx install problem
I don't know a thing about AMD graphics cards, but you can try the Live KDE 14.0.1beta: http://forum.salixos.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4859
Maybe that will work better for you.
Maybe that will work better for you.
Re: gfx install problem
Downloading now, I'll let you know how it goes in a few.
Re: gfx install problem
it would not get past "sdb attached scsi device failed. i believe that to be the usb stick i am booting off of.
Re: gfx install problem
Then maybe it's not a problem with your graphics card, but a problem with that usb stick. Can you try with another?
Re: gfx install problem
I'll see if i can dig one up, I also heard about using a small partition instead of a usb stick, any recommendations or guides?
Re: gfx install problem
