Black screen after installing (salix kde)

Post by gaia »

It's as the title says. I've looked at a few threads but none of them make sense to me. Sorry, I'm a newbie...can anyone help me?

You might to see if the Live CD KDE gives same results ???
Also you might give some Hardware info... especially the video card specs.

Press the key which increase brightness and you see the screen.
for me is the key with the star above the "2" number key. It is in the first row.

or

Code: Select all

echo 4885 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

Since we are playing the guessing game here, you have an intel video card and you should add

Code: Select all

video=SVIDEO-1:d
at your boot parameters.

First off, apologies for the vagueness. I was kind of bummed that it didn't work right away so I quickly made an account and posted...rather knee-jerk reaction, so I forgot about the details!

The previous version of the KDE Live CD booted when I tried it a long time ago, but the only option on the download page for the latest Salix version is the installation iso.

It's a cheap netbook, so only Intel integrated graphics.

Thank you. I will try both suggestions.
