Hello,
I have Salix 14.0 with ratpoison on my laptop, and I generally use it with an external monitor. Resolution on laptop is 1366x768, and it remains the same after starting X server. On the external monitor resolution is correct in text mode (1360x768), but it turns to 1024x768 after starting ratpoison.
To get things right I have to open a terminal and set the correct output with xrandr command. How can I do it automatically? I mean, which is the ratposion configutration file I have to put the xrandr string in, in order to get the correct resolution set automatically?
Thank you
Problem with screen resolution Salix ratpoison
Re: Problem with screen resolution Salix ratpoison
My inclination would be to put it in .xinitrc, but this may be wrong. Perhaps give that a try and report back either way?

Hello Mimosa, thanks for your suggestion. I' ve tried to put the xrandr with correct parameter either in xinitrc and xinitrc.ratpoison, but it didn' t work. Have you got any other idea? I don' t know where ratpoison gets its instructions for monitor settings.
Thanks
Thanks

Was that .xinitrc (with the dot at the front)? xinitrc.ratpoison is where the default is read from if you change window managers, so there's no need to change it at this stage; however, if the .xinitrc fix does work, you might want to include it there too in case you ever want to switch between Ratpoison and something else.
It's not a Ratpoison thing, it's an X thing, and if .xinitrc is not the place, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will have a better suggestion.
However, what exactly was the line you added to the file?
