wrong keyboard layout

Post by jpg153 »

Hi, system language should be set to German - where can I look up?

However, on startup the keyboard symbol on the xfce bar shows always EN(US) and I cannot make it change.

If I look into settings, the keyboard is set to German...

How to get it right?

It probably has to do with ibus settings, as this does not work properly...

Thanks
Regards Gruß

open a terminal and type

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/sbin/gtklocalesetup
and choose german language
also can type

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/sbin/gtkkeyboardsetup
to set the keyboard

Djemos,

you are right, but it didnot work here until I deactivated iBus.
To whatever reason iBus was not working properly. Maybe its because I use an ancient keyboard?
(pre Windows keyboard - Kyocera EP-900/GR, no USB, no PS/2...DIN to PS/2 adapter - I know its old and oldfashioned, but solid)

Ibus has some problems, and we are looking into alternatives for CJK input. That's what it's really meant for - were you trying to use it to get your German keyboard? Assuming not, what's your setup with CJK, and how have you found its performance in 14.1?

Hi Mimosa,

my setup was just German DEde for system language and DE qwertz-latin1 for the keyboard.

Ibus proposed to change to English (US) keyboard but not back. After I switched off ibus all runs fine.
I usually don't need any other keyboard layout than German.
