Brasero not recognizing DVD

Post by Atip »

Brasero does not recognize my DVD+RW, therefore, I cannot burn with this program
and have to use X-CD-Roast instead which is anyhow my prefered program for burning CD/DVD.

Brasero always asks:
Please replace the disk with a supported CD or DVD.

Just checked with xfburn and there is no problem recognizing my DVD+RW disk.

I think Brasero is buggy!
I own Taiyo Yuden DVDs - this medias will be burned by Brasero only with single speed!
XFburn, growisofs and cdrecord can burn any speed i want.
(Attention:
XFburn has a little bug too - there are Problems with big directories about 3.5 GB or greater.
XFburn then often hangs!)

Before I use Brasero but i switched back to XFburn!
I also use "dvd+rw-tools" and/or (better) "cdrtools"
They're not beautiful but bugless!
I think it is important to deal with "cdrecord" or "growisofs"!!

By the way:
Has anybody experience with burning "Blu-Ray"?
I think Linux and Blu-Ray are not a Dreamteam.
(I also hear about problems with blu-ray and windows from my colleagues)
But now you can buy "Blu-Ray M-Disk" (http://www.mdisc.com/catalog/)
This is an attractive media for backups and archives...
Is UDF 2.01 sufficient for this work or is UDF 2.5/2.6 realy needed?
thanks

Please read the posts. This is already answered.

to make brasero detect blank cd/dvd's
add the following lines on the end of /etc/fstab, if you have two dvd drives, or the first line if you have only one.

Code: Select all

/dev/sr0 /media/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/sr1 /media/dvd1 auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

Thanks djemos. I searched the Wiki first for brasero and there was nothing.
I did not know the search is case sensitive, now Brasero yielded.
