Gphoto2 problem

Post by toothandnail »

Just attempted to run gphoto2 from the 64-bit version of Salix.

It failed on an missing dep for libslang. After a bit of checking, I found installing slang1-1.4.9-x86_64-1 fixed it. However, this would indicate a problem in the iso, since libgphoto2 and gphoto2 were both installed during the initial install.

Right! I fixed the dependencies on the server. I also removed gphoto from the iso packages lists. :D

Thanks Paul

No problem. Any plans to include camera/photo handling software on the iso?

No, don't think so. But maybe it's something to think about. Is such a thing really needed? I thought that most, if not all, cameras these days work as usb storage devices too. And gthumb/digikam are available in the repositories anyway for those that really need them.

I think that it's not needed on the ISO, too. Apparently most people don't use it (otherwise this bug report should have appeared much earlier  ). I think most people (including me) just copy their photos to some folder on the hard disk ant that's it.

PS: And it seems digikam is the better photo software anyway but will never be on the ISO ;)

I have a Kodak camera, how do I get my pictures?
I do not want to install Digikam, it is a old computer, I am using.

Install gthumb. Or reinstall gphoto2 if you want to use a terminal.

Did both. And importing pictures is working with gThump.
A pity that it doesn't work with the standard picture viewer.

Is there a special command I can use with xfce when a camera is plugged in?
