[Solved for now] SSL issues on POP mailer

Post by jpg153 »

Currently email users of GMX and Arcor (vodafone) are experiencing problems in accessing their email on the mail servers.
Fetching mail via POP3 and SSL does not work.
Due to a security bug mailer systems fall back to insecure SSL 3.0 - POODLE shows this failure.

details:
https://www.openssl.org/~bodo/ssl-poodle.pdf
http://www.heise.de/security/meldung/An ... 25244.html

This causes Claws-Mail, as installed with Salix 14.1, to stop fetching emails via SSL protocol from GMX and other email hosts.

User westms built Clawsmail 3.11.1 which gets around the issue, however, it might be the case, that an underlying lib is updated
and so the specific Claws-Version is not the ultimate key.

Is it possible to either update Clawsmail now or to investigate in the issue and provide a other solution?

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE: After changing protcol to STARTTLS and port to 110, it works again (and did all the time on my smartphone).
Do not konw whether this is a permanent fix...
Regards Gruß
