I installed proxychains and realized then after, that the binary now is called proxychains4. Its configuration file is still called /etc/proxychains.conf - or has that to be corrected to /etc/proxychains4.conf ?

What's the name of the file that is already there? Keep it.

The configuration file installed by the slackbuild for proxychains4 is named proxychains.conf. It is installed in the /etc/ directory.
