Have you installed the multimedia codecs using Salix-codec-installer?

Installed Vlc player, and as usual Dvds play fine.

Another problem: when booting the 14.1 live Dvd i get Xserver error , No Screens found..Do I need to change boot parameters as I have an Intel x4500 card ?
how do i modify it to i915.modset =0 ?

That is a question for another thread. One preferably not titled "Gstreamer backend error"

As for the original question, the message usually means one of two things:
1. There is a missing codec
2. The stream (file) that you're trying to play is somehow broken.

More info on what file you're trying to play would be helpful.
