gslapt in 13.37 cant update

Post by ChuckRU »

Hello, everyone, I'm trying to bring my old Salix up to-date but gslapt no longer will update the packages. I use Salix current as my everyday OS, but wanted to keep the older version a little longer, I admit it has been a few months since I booted the 13.37 up and updated, now it fails to download anything. I checked the URLS under the gslapt pref tab, and it still shows the same ones listed on the WIKI page. It will fetch the file list but when I try to update, it lists a package name and says HTTP response code said error. I do see that it attempts to download from a German ftp site, but I can't find where to change that. Also, the slapt-get file lists the proper URLs for salix, am at a loss to understand where it is finding this "de" url. I've searched the forums, the wiki and can't see anybody else who's had this trouble. Any help appreciated, I liked the Salix 13.37 but just got busy and let it get outdated-it needs 90+mb of files to catch up.

Hi gapan, good to see you are still around. Here's the "txt" of both:

The first time I tried to update it last night it was naming "libksba" when it errored, so I found that one and installed it, now its naming "guile", so I think it probably is just going down the list one by one. Hate to have to upgrade it that way.

When posting command outputs, please put them inside code tags. This time I did it for you.

Anyway, you need to switch to a different mirror. Edit your /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc file and use one of these instead of salix.enialis.net:

Thanks gapan, I will switch mirrors and give it a whirl. It's been a long time since I was on the forum, I don't know what code tags are, but I'll find the explanation someplace here, and do that in future. Thanks for looking!
Edit: After changing the mirror site for slapt-get>still get the same response :HTTP response code said error. It still downloads package info
but won't or can't dl the packages, and I still see gslapt attempting FTP from the German website. I don't know what config file has that, so I can't change it.

Ah yes, I see now. I fixed it in the main repo. It will take some time to propagate to mirrors, but somewhere in the next 24 hours it will be fixed for you too.

Thanks gapan, I was beginning to wonder if I should just give up and reload. I did manage to get some packages last night after I changed mirrors a second time.
