Some x86_64 packages present

I am trying to upgrade from 14 to 14.1 as advised on this page: http://docs.salixos.org/wiki/How_to_upg ... .0_to_14.1

I want to point out a practical problem in this method. Initially new versions of glibc, slapt-get and libffi are downloaded and installed. The a long list of packages are to be downloaded. This may take a long time of the internet connection is not fast. Now if in between computer has to be switched off, I think there may be a problem on booting next time. It would be better if we can download all packages first and then start installing them: glibc first, then slapt-get, then libffi and then all others.

Another problem that I am facing is that while slapt-get is downloading packages, it get stuck after every few minutes, and download process stops. At this time internet connection is OK since I can use web browser all right all the time. I have to then control-C and give command "slapt-get -U" again. I am not sure if there is a poblem from repository side.

1. I have upgraded by running command 'slapt-get --upgrade'. On repeating this command, it shows that following packages have been excluded:

Do I install them separately after reboot?

2. I see that "mate-file-manager-open-terminal" is not available for Salix 14.1. What is the alternative? How can I open a terminal in the folder that I am viewing on the mate-file-manager? I had mate-file-manager-open-terminal of version 14 installed but it was not working. This is a very useful utility.

However, gslapt (on searching for x86_64) shows many 64bit packages installed, along with regular 32bit ones. For example, both libreoffice 5.0.1-i686-ldj and 5.0.3-x86_64-1_rlw are installed. How can I correct this.

Switch to another repo to see if that fixes the problem.

What are aaa_base zzz-settings for?

Doing a "slapt-get --show aaa_base" give you the following description of the package:

Package Description:
 aaa_base (Basic Linux filesystem package)

 Sets up the empty directory tree for Slackware and adds an email to
 root's mailbox welcoming them to Linux. :)  This package should be
 installed first, and never uninstalled.

You can get similar information for zzz-settings using the --show option of slapt-et

This is not possible on a standard installation. You somehow messed up very badly with adding extra repositories or manually installing packages.

And the least thing you could do if you actually want any help is show your /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc

I changed all 14.0 to 14.1 and then upgraded the system using instructions on your upgrade page.

Now I want to stick to 32 bit system. I only want to remove all 64bit packages so that I get space on this partition. I do not want to convert this to a 64 bit system. Where are these 64bit packages stored or installed. Can I just give some command to delete them to get more space?

So what does it look like now (this still points to the 14.0 repositories, but you say you changed it)?

The simplest thing though might be just to reinstall Salix from scratch, if you can back up your personal files to an external storage medium.

Presently it looks exactly like what is shown in above post, except for 14.1 instead of 14.0

I can see in Gslapt which are x86_64 packages installed. For example libreoffice x86_64 is installed but is shown as excluded (with a lock sign on check box) in Gslapt. How can I remove it from command line (slapt-get or some other command line package manager)?
