Multiple update notifications for flash player plugin

Post by jerome »

I'm getting multiple update notifications for the flash player plugin (3 at a time on the Xfce panel). Thing is, I don't actually want any more updates for the plugin because I discovered that recent versions were causing my browser to crash. I'm now using an old one which seems fine.

Is there any way to stop certain packages from being updated?

Hello,
to exclude a given package open Gslapt and on Preferences Menu go to the Exclude Tab and add the package you wish to exclude. I had the same problem with flash plugin and I just added
^flash.*
to the list of excluded software.
From then on flash-plugin was always skipped from upgrades.

Antonio

If you don't have the latest flash player installed, better remove it completely. Older versions are full of security problems.

Perhaps your problem with crashing with newer versions is solved by just installing flashplugin-lahf-fix though...

Yeah the security issue was a concern... Isn't the flashplugin-lahf-fix just for 64-bit? I use 32-bit.

Yes, but you don't state that in your previous post. That's why I wrote "perhaps".
