Wating till judgment day

Post by l_l_o »

Gentlemen:

This happened twice in the row using new downloads, burnings, and installation attempts: Everything proceeded with super speed, but 30 seconds after FONTCONFIG UPDATE all activities ceased. Dead quietness for a long while... The keyboard allowed to enter only one single letter, then nothing else. Total numbness.

Any hope?!

Please verify both the download and the burn using md5sum /path/to/salix.iso (naturally adapt the path to the actual download location) and md5sum /dev/cdrom (adapt the path to whatever the device for your cdrom drive containing the Salix Installation CD is).
The calculated md5sums should match those published on our homepage aside the ISO you downloaded.

I don't think it's a download error. This has been reported before once or twice. I even experienced it once with a Slackware DVD, but never with a Salix CD. So it is a bug inherited from slackware, but there is no way to reproduce it. All the times it was reported, it was enough that the users tried to install again, and surprisingly enough, it worked. I have changed some code in the installer and I'm hoping that it will be fixed in the next release, but without having any way to reproduce it, I can not be sure.
