Install Salix

Guys please don't stone me to death
I have checked the wiki and other threads on how to install Salix. However I'm a nuub and I didn't dl the live iso version of Salix mate.
I want to install Salix to my internal laptop hdd on a second partition. I have syslinux, parted and lilo as instructed but I cannot seem to install them. The docs are just all text files.
How do I go about installing lilo, syslinux and parted so that I can boot from the second partition so that I'm hoping I can install Salix via the text interface?

Just download the Install iso you want and follow the instructions. You shouldn't need to worry about parted et al. You can either burn the iso to a CD/DVD, and boot from that, or copy it to a USB stick. Instructions are on the wiki. Just make sure you know which partition(s) you want to use for Salix.
