installing tarballs - how?
How do i install programs from source to slackware? Like usual by: config make sudo make install?

It depends. Lots of tinkering may be required and things could get messy. What do you want to install? Might there be alternatives in the repositories, or from SBo?

Thanks a lot: I was looking for srware iron (a chrome based browser). Eventually, Vivaldi might be a valid alternative (though it does not have an adroid "child") ... You can also always try requesting it as a package - you are more likely to get a positive response if you make a good case for why it would fill a gap in the repositories.
