I have been exploring Typst for a few weeks and am impressed with it. If you have an interest in typesetting, it is worth the time and effort to check out Typst (IMHO).

Typst is a new markup-based typesetting system that is designed to be as powerful as LaTeX while being easier to learn and use. It can create professional-looking documents (with high-quality typography); it is a good choice for writing essays, articles, scientific papers, reports, books, etc.
Although the developers recommend signing up for Typst’s (freemium) web app for the smoothest writing experience, you can also install Typst locally on your computer — without needing to rely on an internet connection. If you are interested in this use case, this tutorial explains how to install the Typst compiler and configure a code editor (VS Code) for use with Typst.
The document is 12 pages long (1.1 MB) and includes screenshots. It was typeset with Typst.
It has been publicly shared from the Keep&Share link below:

I hope this will be helpful if you decide to try installing the Typst compiler on your Salix system.
