Salix 15.0 & Virt-Manager

Post by inukaze »

Hi there, i am trying making Virt-Manager under Salix OS 15.0

My first try was via FlatPak and that was a mess, and just purge that installation because have a lot of missing packages and configurations to make it work correctly

This is my second try and using gslapt i had installed the follow packages :

Code: Select all

python-requests
python-certifi
python-idna
libvirt-python
libvirt-glib
radvd
open-iscsi
netcat-openbsd
lvm2-lockd
spice-protocol
spice
spice-vdagent
spice-guest-tools
usbredir
x11spice
osinfo-db
osinfo-db-tools
yajl
numactl
device-tree-compiler
libnfs
snappy
vde2
virglrenderer
virt-manager
qemu-guest-agent
qemu
xf86-video-qxl
if you want try inside a Virtual Machine just for determinate the requiered packages you can use this code instead :

Code: Select all

slapt-get -u ; slapt-get -i python-requests python-certifi python-idna libvirt-python libvirt-glib radvd open-iscsi netcat-openbsd lvm2-lockd spice-protocol spice spice-vdagent spice-guest-tools usbredir x11spice osinfo-db osinfo-db-tools yajl numactl device-tree-compiler libnfs snappy vde2 virglrenderer virt-manager qemu-guest-agent qemu xf86-video-qxl
i know that packages are requiered becauase under Slackware(64) 15.0 i had solved manually based on another post, i put my answer on "This URL"

The thing is when i try make a New Virtual Machine i got messages like :
unsupported configuration: domain configuration does not support video model 'qxl'
unsupported configuration: USB redirection is not supported by this version of QEMU
[ Type : SpiceVMC ]
unsupported configuration: spice graphics are not supported with this QEMU
: 'Requested operation is not valid: network 'default' is not active'
[ i presume libslirp is need for this but not in salix repo ]

If i change Video from QLX to Boch, delete USB Redirector 1 & 2 and delete the Network Interface Device i got the follow message
internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2025-03-27T00:30:48.997616Z qemu-system-x86_64: -chardev spicevmc,id=charchannel0,name=vdagent: 'spicevmc' is not a valid char driver name
I delete the "Channel Spice" i can boot but the virtual machine not had things like i need to test like Network Connection and the "VirtualGL"
unsupported configuration: virtio 3d acceleration is not supported
What i should do for the "virtio 3d acceleration" can be supported ?

Just for the Dunnos, VirtGL is not the same project of VirtualGL ?

Well i hope someone can do something for make this just a packages installables from salix repository.

If you had curiosity, you can take a look in my post for VirtualBox in Slackware(64) 15.0

Thu Mar 27 16:10:19 2025:
The particular things get my attention was :
Thu Mar 27 16:10:16 2025: Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: /usr/sbin/avahi-daemon -D
Thu Mar 27 16:10:16 2025: [ OK ]

Thu Mar 27 16:10:16 2025: [FAILED]
Thu Mar 27 16:10:16 2025: Starting wsdd2: /usr/bin/wsdd2 -d
Thu Mar 27 16:10:19 2025: /etc/rc.d/rc.vde2: line 36: /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq: No such file or directory
For me looks strange that OK, empty line, FAILED

The another thing i notice is the files created on /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d like
05-qxl.conf
06-spice-vdagent.conf

Because that two files, make a strange behaviour and provoque my system does not start normally because try to put XSPICE driver before nvidia driver and well i edit and comment every line for disable it in both file, and now i can start normally

the file 05-qxl.conf is part of the package " xf86-video-qxl " from Salix Extra repository
the file 06-spice-vdagent..conf is part of the pacakge " 06-spice-vdagent.conf " from Salix Extra Repository
