new installation of salix. and this odd thing happens dosnt matter what windows manager it is. but salix will just reboot. after it goes into standby mode. i will notice it rebooted and it will boot into my xp partition. i have no idea why. i turned off all power settings but the monitor will still sleep and boom i move the mouse and right back into xp using 13.0

Could you please be more specific. If I read your post right, this happens when suspending to RAM (i.e. Standby)?
Did you already try to "manually" suspend by selecting that action in the logout dialog? In any case please try it. Check the watch when you issue that suspend order and watch the screen whether any error messages appear. Then reboot and open /var/log/syslog with a text editor/viewer (e.g. geany, most) and search for error messages that occur after the time when you started suspending.
