I know it is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430.
running LSHW on it, I cant find any mention of it, nor the driver in use.
it shows details of the VGA compatible controller :
product: ATI Technologies Inc [1002:95C2]
vendor: ATI Technologies Inc [1002]
bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
version: 00
width: 32 bits
clock: 33MHz
capabilities:
Power Management,
PCI Express,
Message Signalled Interrupts,
vga_controller,
bus mastering,
PCI capabilities listing
configuration:
latency: 0
resources:
memory: c0000000-cfffffff(prefetchable)
ioport: d000(size=256)
memory: d0020000-d002ffff
memory: d0000000-d001ffff(prefetchable)
this device hasn't been claimed
if i update the driver as described in the wiki (http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/H ... ATI_Driver), could that possibly solve the problem?

still, isn't it strange that cheese ran smoothly in 13.0. No hickups whatsoever - wheras in 13.1 it seems to choke?

I have a problem with the command "su". When you log into the session "root" locale is English. If you use the command "su -", then everything works fine. The reason I found on the Russian forum unxforum.ru, it was a simple typo in the source code shadow.
I produced a patch to fix and verify the package - all OK.
I enclose a patch and corrected SlackBuild.

shadow.tar.bz2 - 3 Kb

You should not be silent. But as this problem exists in a Slackware package it would be better to fix it upstream by Pat Volkerding in Slackware.

Do you think I ever got a reaction/response of any kind by him?
So everybody is in the same position like me (/us?) contacting him. Aggressive spam policies and stuff I guess.
