replace lilo with grub

hello everybody..

dummy request =) i crushed my system while i tried to replace lilo with grub (1), because i had no idea what to fill in in the menu.lst.
i tried with something like this:

root=hd0,0 (root is on /dev/hda1) quiet ro ...

my biggest problem was, how to set the kernel, and do i have to insert also something like an initrd?

Either install grub2 + sg2conf and run sg2conf or if you want grub legacy, I think there is a tool like liloconfig for it called grubconfig or similar.
