Little resume of problems I encountered with Salix 13.1 LXDE

Post by Midseven »

Ok, first my installation went flawless this time (with the default keyboard map). The last time I installed Salix, I selected "cf" keyboard map instead of the "us" default one... When it rebooted after the installation I ended up with no keyboard at all at the login...

The second think I noticed is that my touchpad (of an old Dell Latitude C600) doesn't handle click or double click when taping on the touchpad. I have to do it with the buttons which is not fun to say the least. I don't have this issue on Debian-based distros (Mint LXDE or WattOS for example). I even have the vertical scrolling working normally.

The last issue I have is with the Wifi connection. When I click "Connect" via the system tray icon or in wicd (with all things well configured) it freezes everything. I have to force shutdown by holding the power button 4-secs. So that's where I am right now... Again, I don't have this Wifi problem with other distros.

Thank you in advance.

What does "cf" stand for? Did you select it by accident or is it actually the one you wanted to use?

We know about that, but there's not much we can do. You can search these forums, a way to make it work as you like has been mentioned already. In fact we had double-tapping etc work in our very first 13.0 release but removed it later, because it caused some other touchpads to not function at all.

If you don't provide more information about your wifi card, connection method, loaded modules etc, nobody will be able to help. You could look up what module those other distros are using and try to use the same in Salix.

Sorry gapan for the long long delay...

I assume that it stands for "Canadian French" but I would prefer "ca" at the installation which is the standard "Canada" keyboard with no variant. And yes I have chosen "cf" on purpose but as I said it ends up with no keyboard at all at the login screen.

Ok, got it.

I didn't have time lately to get back on this laptop (used for distro-hoping 90% of the time). I just found weird that the whole system freezed on the "Connect" click. I will investigate and search for a fix, I'm not worried about that...

Thank you for your help and by the way the artwork of the distro is really beautiful and peaceful. Continue your good work!
