Re: it wont wake up
8 ball says, outlook hazy, ask again later. But seriously, kinda hard to know on the basis of info provided. Have you tried switching to a console by using CTRL+ALT+Function key 2 through 6? Are you having to power cycle the machine to restart? One possibility could be a screensaver module which doesn't agree with your hardware or doesn't like X Window as set up in Salix. Is it a laptop or desktop? What video card is it? Sometimes I'm afraid X Window just does go away and become unresponsive to user input. This shouldn't happen in a well-tuned system, but sometimes sith happens with various hardware combinations as Xorg and other aspects of the Linux system are developed. You could try some of the breakout keystroke combinations detailed in:

Don't forget to search these and other forums, whatever it is, somebody probably worked through the same problem already.

Please provide the info about your hardware, that gnomic has requested. And additional:
Do you experience the same problem with other distributions?
Give the relevant lines of /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog (note the time code) to see what happens on wake up.
