What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.

ever since the first salix release I've been using lilo with the compact option in both my laptop and 64bits desktop with no problem ever

elohelomg wrote:Heres something interesting, a freshly burned iso gives a problem with one of the dev-arch packages (which i think is the reason my "create a new account" does not open), and the errrors are or less gone once i played around with the bios.
I burned another fresh cd, and i still get the same error. But when i do a FULL install, the error seems to disappear.
The dev arch packages. Wont load em'.
Any way to disable the bios check?

What do you mean?elohelomg wrote:The dev arch packages. Wont load em'.
Yes, use the "compact" option. Did you run lilo after you made the changes?elohelomg wrote:Any way to disable the bios check?
Re: Weird start up
I'm still wondering what you mean with "bios check"
Re: Weird start up
I've added compact in the lilo script, added lba32 as well, and ran lilo after that. When the computer reboots (or just turns on), it says "checking bios"........and then continues to load the computer.
As for the dev-arch packages ( i think it had to do with creating a user account), it says it cant open it/it might be corrupt and what not. But it works fine on a full install. Very strange.

So, where's the problem?elohelomg wrote:I've added compact in the lilo script, added lba32 as well, and ran lilo after that. When the computer reboots (or just turns on), it says "checking bios"........and then continues to load the computer.
Re: Weird start up
That bios check is still there. It wont seem to go away.
Re: Weird start up
You can't completely disable the bios check! You can only make it shorter. How could any OS start without the bios?
Re: Weird start up
Good point. I thought the whole compact option got rid of it completely, hence the "WHY ISN'T IT GOING AWAY" thing.
I feel like a moron right now. haha
