I needed to remember the conversion between grams and ounces and drew a momentary blank. I opened a terminal window and was surprised to find out that SalixOS doesn't include units. OK, so just install it from the repository, right? Um... no, we don't have it. I built a package from the SBo script and now I have it.
The point to this story: Units is an incredibly useful and tiny little app that seems to come with most distros, at least the big ones. May I humbly suggest that it be included on future isos? Installed size is all of 323K.
For those not familiar with Units see: http://www.gnu.org/software/units/units.html

Re: units
gonvert is a GUI program. Sometimes the command line is faster/easier. You'd think a bunch of Slackware geeks would want a CLI utility.
Google is useless without an internet connection. There are times I do use my netbook without one
I still think units would be a very good addition to SalixOS, and a very small one at that.

Rich, while I appreciate your efforts I think you missed the part of my original post where I said I had already built the packages from Slackbuilds.org. I have units installed and working. The point of my post was a suggestion for future releases, nothing more.

Re: units
But does it know the diameter of Neptune, or convert Athenian cubits to Roman feet? Can it tell you the weight of 4 cups of sifted cake flour in grams? Units is a geeks delight.gapan wrote:And gonvert which is in the repos does that too.
