i have:

smplayer, exaile, firefox [adobe flash] salix 32

my problem:

i am listening to exaile. I wanna listen some youtube. So i pause Exaile and start youtube video.

but: no sound in youtube. what i need to do is: shutdown exaile and restart firefox, then I can listen to youtube with sound.

another problem:

i listen youtube or some flash site and i finish. then I wanna watch movie in smplayer: no sound.
i have to shutdown smplayer, firefox and start smplayer again to have sound.

anyone having similar? this way of doing things sucks a lot.

What soundcard do you have? Post the output of "lspci". You have to setup dmix if it was not done by alsa automatically.

but, one things I found out: with vlc it seems to be no problem. at least when i go from flash webpage to vlc and watch movie.

You seem to have 2 audio devices? Could it be that when one application outputs to the first one, the other outputs to the other one?

Otherwise it's probably a problem with flash, which probably uses oss, instead of alsa.
