Hi,
How to get a Samsung ML 1710 to work on Salix 64 bit 13.1?
CUPS does not list as supported.
Linux does however support my printer quite easily. Inever saw a Linuxdistro being unable to get it to work, with exception of Slack...
TNX-a lot for a solution!

The following link should help:
http://splix.sourceforge.net/

Now that we have slapt-src, the easiest way to install splix would be to first install slapt-src:
and then use that to install jbigkit and splix from slackbuilds:
Read this too: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.1/system/splix/
Code: Select all
slapt-get -i slapt-src
Code: Select all
slapt-src -i jbigkit
slapt-src -i splix

Yeah, splix is nice. I used it also for my Samsung ML 1640.
Thanks for the hint to slackbuilds, I think I got it from somewhere else, maybe linuxprinting.org.

I guess I'm confused by the replies here. I've been using splix for close to a year now for my Samsung ML2510. Here's what I did:
It's already in the repos!
Code: Select all
slapt-get -i splix
Code: Select all
root[rich]# slapt-get --se splix
splix-2.0.0-i486-2cd [inst=yes]: splix - free drivers for Samsung printers

Thanks laprjns, I had forgotten it's already there.

LOL! My bad, I started it.
