well, I have 22 distros as guests currently, and that's only because I deleted three this morning. several have pcmanfm mostly versions 0.9.7-0.9.9. I don't have the same problem with those but there may be other issues I haven't run into since as I said, I mostly theme in Linux.

The file is deleted immediately. It just takes a while for pcmanfm to refresh the directory contents. Hit F5 right after you delete the file.

Yes, of course it's only the refresh. But even hitting F5 does not help in some cases: I've used the pcmanfm built-in command "extract archive here". Nothing appears, even after hitting F5 several times. Then after some seconds files show up.

this is gamin. Edit /etc/gamin/gaminrc , change settings to your liking. Default is as such for each fs 15 seconds between polls. So change to 15 to what you want for which fs you want. Then you will see this refresh quicker in your file manager

You are right. I've set it to from "poll" to "kernel" and now it's back to the usual 1-3 seconds until the refresh.
