Multibot System

Post by demoka »

I have read about Salix and I have tested the Live CD it looks like an amazing distribution the only reservation that I have about it is the use of LiLo as the bootloader since I am running Multiboot machines,i wanted to know if Salix would give me the option to install its bootloader in its own / partition so that I can update my GRUB2 and add Salix to the bootmenu?

If installing from the live CD you have the option not to install lilo at all. So you can edit your grub so that it loads salix too. No need to chainload.

Although you do not have to use it, the GUI utility Lilo Setup handles multi-boot setup.
You could at least launch it & see if all your systems are recognized.
So long as you do not click on the final execute button (which only gets ungreyed once configuration is set) it will not temper with anything. That way you can have a good idea whether it can handle your multi boot system or not.

But replacing grub with lilo is probably not what demoka wants.

:D

I only read that he wanted a functional multiboot system & was unsure whether lilo could handle it or not.
As I wrote, he doesn't have to use lilo, but it may be useful general information to know that lilo does handle multiboot very well & that it is usually a breeze to configure it with Lilo Setup. ;)
