Am unable to point Simplescan to the network printer/scanner as the scan source.
Simplescan has selected "Noname UVC Camera (05ca:18b3)"??? as source - and doesn't offer any other devices or paths.
How can i get it to find the networks scanner?
How to point simplescan to the network scanner
Re: How to point simplescan to the network scanner
No idea about network scanners, but "Noname UVC Camera (05ca:18b3)" seems to be a webcam

Re: How to point simplescan to the network scanner
No idea if simplescan supports networks scanners. Maybe you should try xsane.
Re: How to point simplescan to the network scanner
Simplescan definitely supports network scanner. I ran this app on crunchbang 10 livecd: found my scanner in a new york minute.gapan wrote:No idea if simplescan supports networks scanners. Maybe you should try xsane.
Tried xsane too. At first run it started searching for devices - and found "Noname UVC Camera (05ca:18b3)"

Maybe something like this is needed: http://tinycorelinux.com/forum/index.php?topic=817.0
Re: How to point simplescan to the network scanner
Yes, it does. I was amazed to find out it works for the HP OfficeJet 4500, which I have here. (BTW xsane and xscanimage work too. But I invoked those through the hp-toolbox utility.)ceeslans wrote:Simplescan definitely supports network scanner. What scanner do you have?
EDIT: With my HP device it was important to add the printer with the HPLIP interface. This only worked with auto-detection with the "Settings -> Printing" dialog and not with the cups web frontend.
