Hi all
I just installed salixos XFCE 13.37 in a virtualbox vm and want to know if I decide to install it as my main OS on my Dell 1558 laptop if my internal 3g modem will work by default as this will be my only way to connect to internet once the install is done. Or do I need to download some packages now while I still have an internet connection? Anything else to lookout for?
Will my internal Dell 3g modem work after install of XFCE 13
Re: Will my internal Dell 3g modem work after install of XFC
If it works in 13.1, I bet it works in 13.37. But you could make sure you have a 13.1 Live CD (or USB) to hand, just in case - then you'd still be able to do any downloads. To be really sure, test it first.
If you post exact details of your 3G hardware (try looking at the output of lspci), maybe someone who has the same can confirm it works under 13.37.
EDIT It just occurred to me maybe you don't have Salix 13.1 installed, as I see you've just joined the forum. The same principle applies, though. Try your wireless out with 13.1 Live; if that goes OK, even if it then doesn't work with 13.37 (unlikely) you can use the Live CD as a rescue disk. Or indeed, any live CD that works with your wireless setup.
13.37 Live hasn't come out yet. The Live vesion generally comes a week or two after new releases.
