[SOLVED] XFCE64 13.37 file format .svg not recognized

Post by mpadilla2 »

Hello,

First of all I'd like to say thank you for 13.37! I just upgraded from 13.31.

UPDATE: Ok I can now say that no .svg icons are displaying at all in my system. It appears to be system wide and not application specific. So if anyone can help out i would very much appreciate it.

Here's the deal after upgrade if I try to start Shotwell nothing happens. So I go to the terminal and try to start shotwell and get:
** ERROR **: Resources.vala:724: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/shotwell/icons/crop.svg'
aborting...
Aborted

I checked the Wiki, FAQs, googled it. So thinking it's librsvg I try upgrading that but it didn't fix it. I also tried upgrading vala...no dice.

I then try to run Pitivi and get:
glib.GError: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/pitivi/pixmaps/pitivi-split-24.svg' :?:

I'm hoping someone can help me out. How do I fix this and get .svg file format recognized again?

Thank you!

It seems that your upgrade didn't go that well. How did you upgrade? Did you follow the guide in the wiki? Were there any problems while upgrading?

Yes I followed the wiki step by step...took my time.

I figured out the problem: gdk-pixbuf2.

I reinstalled gdk-pixbuf2, rebooted and everything is working again.

Thank you for the reply. :D

Just wanted to note that I upgraded 3 computers using step by step from the wiki and got the same results. None of the upgrades produced any errors. All three were identical hardware. All three were XFCE64 upgrade from 13.1 to 13.37. In the end all three were not recognizing .svg files or displaying them when the upgrades were finished. All three were fixed by reinstalling gdk-pixbuf2.
