That is great. XP becomes more obsolete as each day passes so Salix is the smarter choice!

The main problems with Windows are the maintenance, license (U$S 200 to U$S 800), viruses, spyware.

One advantage of Windows is on the same hardware, is faster than Linux Deskop. (Tested on several machines with dual boot)

However linux is better. On servers, I use slackware since 2003.

My intention is to replace most Windows machines with salix.

But also replace several systems using Foxpro / Visual Foxpro to Lazarus / Free Pascal + Firebird (cross plataform)

Thanks to Salix Team, Salix community, and open source community.

I agree it's smarter than WinXP. I think most of us don't know any better because we just buy computers. And computers "come with Windows," so most of us remain ignorant of any choice at all, other than Mac, perhaps.

And most of us suppose that Windows includes all the software that "came on the computer," but it doesn't! Other than a web browser and e-mail client and very little else, very little software is actually included with Windows! But when you install SalixOS, you get the browser and e-mail but also a full office software suite, pdf readers, photo editor, media player, etc. And without any need for all the expensive bloatware to maintain a vulnerable OS.

I am dual-booting SalixOS and Xubuntu (10.04), and I simply wouldn't go back to Windows at all. Unless I happen to get one of those college courses that requires Windows... in which case I'll use it in a strictly virtual environment, or work on a school computer.
